Bag Gray-green

Bag Gray-green by designer  Tereza Chytilová from the Middle Class Homeless collection. Due to the housing crisis, young people from the middle class lack the permanent housing that previous generations owned. For these modern urban nomads, I therefore propose a collection of “bags” that will help them move and become their figurative snail shells. Through embroidery, I give the rectangular piece of fabric the volume traditionally used in folk culture for carrying things, as well as strength at the seams. The embroidery, which ironically critiques rental housing here, is not decoration but a functional structural element and a carrier of meaning. The result is four products: a shopping bag, a raincoat, an apron, and a backpack. All can be easily packed into a backpack or unfolded for storage.
