About us

THE DESIGN was founded on the belief that art and design should not exist merely as objects on display, but as a natural part of everyday life. The things that surround us shape the way we use our spaces and how we feel within them.

We are not an algorithm. Our selection is personal and based on years of following the contemporary art and design scene, engaging in conversations with artists, and developing a deep understanding of their work. We are interested in works created by real people—pieces that reflect conscious decisions, craftsmanship, and authenticity. Rather than following trends, we focus on how an artist’s practice evolves over time and the lasting value it will hold in the future.

The people who choose these works are just as important to us as the works themselves. We want to understand how they live, what they expect from their spaces, and what they wish to build a lasting relationship with. We therefore seek objects that do more than simply fill an interior—we look for works that become an authentic and personal part of it.

Behind THE DESIGN is a team of women with diverse professional backgrounds, united by the conviction that art and design belong in everyday life. Together, we connect artists and designers with people who are looking for something distinctive, meaningful, and enduring.

Olga Rühle

Owner of THE DESIGN and Patron of the Arts

Olga has long supported contemporary art, design, and cultural initiatives. Through THE DESIGN, she creates opportunities for Czech and international artists to present and develop their work. She is also a member and Past President of Rotary in the Czech Republic, where she is actively involved in charitable and community projects.

Romana Drda de Angelis

Curatorial Director of the Gallery and Concept Store

Romana develops the gallery’s exhibition programme and curates the selection of represented artists and designers. She connects contemporary art, design, and interiors, while also advising clients on building private collections, selecting artworks, and integrating them thoughtfully into specific spaces.

Miloslava Umanec Bulířová

Gallery Manager

Miloslava oversees the day-to-day operations of THE DESIGN, coordinates projects, and ensures exceptional care for clients, represented artists, and business partners.

Denisa Bulířová

Communications and Production

Denisa is responsible for THE DESIGN’s brand communication, social media, and production support for exhibitions, events, and other projects.
