Vase 13×20
Vase 13×20 is from the Initial Structures collection. In this collection, Martin Poš presents contemporary works where natural phenomena and modern ceramic techniques meet. The collection represents a deep connection between nature and man through materials and forms inspired by the geological processes that shape our planet.
The artist takes inspiration from the material, process, and early origins of ceramic vessels from the beginning of human history. He is interested in natural phenomena such as volcanic activity, rock structure, sediments and erosion.
He works with traditional Czech porcelain and stoneware. Each piece is hand-turned on a potter’s wheel and further modelled. The objects are decorated using a traditional technique of applying precious metal compounds and re-fired. Their surface bears fine cracks and structures that resemble eroded rocks or soil. The series uses innovative techniques and experimental processes that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.
