QUBUS

Qubus was founded in 2002 by artist, sculptor, and designer Jakub Berdych Karpelis, who invited Maxim Velčovský, then a recent graduate of UMPRUM, to collaborate with him. The design duo was behind the opening of the showroom, the first design shop in the Czech Republic. They jointly managed brand until 2009. Since 2010, Jakub has remained the artistic director and chief designer of the Qubus brand. In 2024, Jakub was joined by arts manager and curator Marcela Straková, and they now run the Qubus brand and studio together as an artist-producer duo.

Qubus has won several prestigious awards in the fields of culture, art, and design, and Qubus Design Studio has produced a number of iconic installations, exhibition architectures, collections, and works of art. Products are characterized by the use of traditional materials such as glass and porcelain and are created in local workshops in collaboration with masters across various crafts.

The brand and studio has been provoking you with conceptual design and artistic objects for 23 years!
