Janja Prokić

Prokič Janja

Janja Prokić is a graduate of AVU and VŠUP. She has been making jewellery since 2011, when she was first nominated for the Czech Grand Design award, followed by several nominations and in 2014 in 2018 Janja Prokić was awarded the title of Jewellery Designer of the Year.

All jewellery collections are in some way based on her personal life, she calls them her diaries. She is inspired by her studies of shamanism, symbolism or white magic as well as her childhood, dreams and fairy tales. Her greatest muse is nature.

She exhibits her work all over the world. She opened her own studio in Prague in December 2017 and her first brick-and-mortar shop in Kampa in August 2022.

For the Mitmem collection, Janja took inspiration from meadow flowers, clusters of flowers that look like meadow still lifes. The bouquets that people like to pick, for example, on a walk, and the wreaths that children weave from dandelions, daisies, bluebells, and all the flowers they discover in the meadow that somehow enchant them or charm them in their subtlety.

The stylish inspiration for the Le grand ju collection came from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and its mystics, artists and writers, led by Georg Ivanovich Gurdjieff, René Daumal, Roger Gilbert Lecomte, Sarah Bernhardt and Alphonse Mucha’s book on flower-talk.

Superpowers, seek your inner ability. The path of shamanic rituals leads to nature and the powers it has given to living creatures. The jewellery of the Superpowers collection is based on the symbolism of animals in different cultures and in shamanism. The fox, beaver, horse, bear and falcon make up the pentagon of creatures on which the collection is based.

Ineō Collection. Bone and stone. The most important raw materials that the Inuit needed to provide for themselves in a nomadic way of life in an environment of long and hard freezes. And it is the life of the northernmost of the northerners that has become the main inspiration for this year’s jewellery collection by Janja Prokić.

The main motif of the new Sadalsuud collection by Czech designer Janja Prokić is the stars and their power. The designer was inspired by the star of the same name, which is the brightest of the constellation Aquarius.

The flowers in the Flowers collection are invented by the artist and have no real basis, but the four main ones are named after real plants, the cherry, fuchsia, lime and mistletoe. Each flower consists of three separate parts – stem, petals, stamens and stigmas.
