Ondřej Stára

Ondřej Stára - portrét

Ondřej Stára, a graduate of biomedical engineering and the K.O.V. studio at UMPRUM, has been a jewellery designer for thirteen years.

His work has been nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award several times and in 2020 and 2021 he was a finalist in the Jewellery Designer of the Year category. Ondřej has his workshop and showroom in Podolí, Prague, and his portfolio includes many successful collaborations – for example, with fashion designers Jan Černý, Natalia Nepovim and the Adidas brand. His next collaboration was with the tattoo artist Casablanca, which resulted in the Stára x Picasa collection.

Casablanca Stára x Picasa collection. The design of jewellery from the Stára x Picasa collaboration is based on Stanislav’s (Picasa) tattoo sketches.

The jewellery from the Beach Artifacts collection was created for the fashion collection Oficina Playa by designer Natalia Nepovímová. The aesthetic of the collection is based on the concept of beach artifacts – often unidentifiable washes from the sea that we find on land. The jewellery uses the principle of layering thin sheets that together create complex structures. Each piece of jewellery is a unique original, much like the marine wash-ups. The creative connection between the two designers, like the concept of the collection, was born in Mallorca. Beach Artifacts earrings have been nominated for the Czech Grand Design 2022 award in the jewellery category.
