Martin Poš

Poš - portrét

Martin Poš has the heart and soul of a ceramicist who has returned to his craft after years and is looking for new directions in which his work will continue. In the 1990s, he trained as a ceramicist and potter.

This year, his work is characterized by the utmost in colorful minimalism. Yet it also features an expressiveness that manifests itself in the unusual shapes of his pieces. You will surely recognize his ceramics and porcelain almost immediately by the symbolic fingerprints that have formed a perfect shape on the wheel. Only to subsequently bend and crumple them, thereby referencing the original malleability of this noble material.

Golden Kiss A collection of delicate white ceramic cups. Each cup was personally tested by a fairy at a magical well, where the forest is deepest. His golden lipstick is non-toxic, yet indelible.

Mother of Pearl. A collection of holographic white ceramics. Inspired by nature and the universe. By a seashell and a space rocket.

Initial Structures. This collection presents contemporary original work where natural phenomena meet modern ceramic techniques. The collection represents a deep connection between nature and humanity through materials and forms inspired by the geological processes that shape our planet.

The artist draws inspiration from the materials, processes, and the very origins of ceramic vessels from the dawn of human history. He is fascinated by natural phenomena such as volcanic activity, rock structures, sediments, and erosion.

He works with traditional Czech porcelain and stoneware. Each piece is hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel and further shaped. The objects are decorated using a traditional technique involving the application of precious metal compounds and are then refired. Their surfaces feature fine cracks and textures reminiscent of eroded rocks or soil. The series employs innovative techniques and experimental processes that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies.
