Vilém Frič has been developing his Guardian Angels series for a long time – sculptures that symbolize protection, silence, and light for him. And just as angels can walk on earth, they can also float in the sea. That is why a new collection was created this year: stingrays, angels of the deep sea.

Each ray begins as a hard, unfinished piece of stainless steel. The material, which is cold and inflexible at the beginning, gradually changes under the artist’s hands. Hours of hand shaping, fine grinding, and searching for curves cause movement to emerge from the metal—the lightness of wings, the flow of water, the quiet elegance of the depths.

Vilém Frič sees rays as guardian angels of the sea. As beings that carry within them the calm of the ocean, harmony, and a special kind of light that can quiet both space and mind.
