Lukáš Houdek
Lukáš Houdek is a graduate of the Prague UMPRUM – Rony Plesl’s glass studio. His works are very specific, often identifiable at first glance – they are exceptional in the lightness that Lukáš manages to put into them despite the fact that he uses such a serious material as glass.
Lukáš does not limit himself to a particular technology or theme. He moves smoothly from free realizations to design and back again. He is not afraid of new approaches or classical techniques, on the contrary, he tries to develop the technical and visual boundaries of the glass department. He focuses on themes of pop culture and parody. Humour and the overlapping of design to free art is characteristic of him. After his studies he worked for Moser, now he develops the family company HG Atelier in 1998 with his brother Filip. Both brothers design lighting objects for private homes and residences. Lukáš and Filip also develop a joint project Houdek.Art which focuses on the connection between art and design of super sports cars. Lukáš also collaborates on unique objects with his friend Yulin Huang, who currently works as a designer for Lasvit.
