Book – Antiprsa, zábradlí, trdelníky a to všechno okolo by Ondřej Pokorný

What if someone showed you Prague in a way you’ve never seen it before? Perhaps a hunter, an ambulance dispatcher, a philharmonic musician, a graffiti artist, or a scientist who calculates cocaine use in the city from wastewater samples. This extraordinary non-fiction book about the contemporary metropolis does just that.

Ondřej Pokorný created a vivid portrait of Prague called Antiprsa, zábradlí, trdelníky a to všechno okolo (Anti-breasts, Railings, Trdelníky, and Everything Around Them). For 10 years, he interviewed people who can show the city from an unusual perspective. He wanted to find out how this fascinating anthill, where more than 1.5 million people pass through every day, works. Do people like it? Can’t stand it? Or do they not care?

This personal exploration of how the capital city works is based on 112 interviews. It will take you to a studio near Old Town Square, you will find yourself in an archive between prefabricated buildings, walk through a cemetery, stand in traffic jams, or sit in the garden of a farm where a brewer brews and bottles craft beer. You will see a city you may know intimately from a new perspective.

The author published the book himself. Since this was his first venture into such an adventure, he invited graphic designer Lukáš Kijonka, collage artist Michaela Karásek Čejková, and other book publishing veterans to join the project. Antiprsa has 328 pages and contains the author’s collages and reportage photos. Everything is printed on Munken Pure paper, making the book a treat for the brain and a wellness experience for the fingertips. You will return to it again and again.
